The Washington County Board of Supervisors held a work session with Washington County Ambulance Interim Director Katrina Altenhofen about Ambulance Service staffing needs. Altenhofen goes over some of the details about what is needed for staffing, “In order to keep our two ambulances out there and continue to respond to the calls, that’s what spawned putting that third crew on. We have noticed from July to November 27th we had 216 third crew calls. If you recall back at the quarterly meeting, I told you we were having a third crew a day, that they were being called in. I think over the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday we had calls for a fourth crew even to have to be in. So, we’re at that point of needing to make sure in order to cover the citizens and their emergency needs, that we need to add that one on.” After an hour discussion, the Board agreed that changes need to be made to continue to support Washington County. They asked for more information to be brought to a public meeting so that decisions could be officially made on how to move forward.
