Fresh off of a season opening win Tuesday, the Hillcrest Academy Raven boys basketball team is back on the floor Thursday for a non-conference date in Kalona with Class 3A Fairfield. The Ravens were dominant Tuesday in a wire-to-wire win over conference rival Highland 57-18. Hillcrest led 18-0 after the first quarter and enacted the running clock by halftime against the Huskies. They outrebounded Highland by eight, had 19 assists, finished with 17 steals, hit eight three pointers and forced 22 total Highland turnovers. Seven different Ravens scored, led by 25 points from junior guard Seth Ours.

Fairfield is also 1-0 this year after dispatching Oskaloosa on opening night Tuesday 67-54. The Trojans opened and closed strong, leading the Indians 23-13 after the first quarter, and finishing the game on a 16-9 run the spanned the entire final frame. Fairfield shot a sizzling 55% from the floor and downtown, and outrebounded Osky by 12. Riley Perkins had a game high 27 points while Sam Weaton went double double with 14 points and 11 boards. Luke Konczal added 13 points.

These teams haven’t met since 2015, a 56-51 Raven win. Action starts tonight at 7:30 at Dwight Gingerich Court at Hillcrest Union.
