A short stretch of roadway northwest of Brighton will be closed starting Monday, December 4. The section in question is Dogwood Avenue running north and south from the Skunk River to the railroad tracks.

Thru traffic on Dogwood Avenue north of 295th Street will be closed while this re-grading project takes place. The work at this stage will involve placing fill material along the alignment for the new grade. This will eventually provide a new at-grade crossing over the railroad tracks.

DeLong Construction was contracted for the project, which will cost $910,492.91. The work is part of Washington County’s Five-Year Road Improvement Plan. The goal for the next phase is to provide another paved road corridor over the Skunk River to improve travel in southeast Iowa. Work will continue as long as weather permits. With questions regarding the project, contact the County Engineer’s Office at 319-653-7731.
