The Washington Demons got a new high school boys’ wrestling season started with a bang, as Washington won four duals and finished tied in another Friday at the Cascade Duals. The Demons defeated Bellevue 45-34 before taking a 36-all draw with the host Cascade, then reeled off wins of 39-14 over Starmont; 66-12 over Cascade JV; and 36-34 over Dubuque Wahlert.

The night was a particularly good one for Washington’s Chase Greiner. The senior won all five of his bouts at 157 pounds, picking up three pins and winning a pair of decisions, 5-3 and 7-4. Junior Aaron Boone came up with four victories by pin at 132 lbs, as did sophomore Caden Greiner at 126.

Senior Lane Schrock earned a trio of pins for the Demons at 150 lbs, as did junior Jude Carter at 138 and freshman Blaine Rees at 190. Washington also got a pin to win from junior Nate Edmonds at 120, while 285-pound sophomore Rudy Wolfe was joined by freshmen Jospeh Schreiber and Greyson Hartman with a pair of pins each at 106 and 285, respectively. The Demons next wrestle tomorrow at Central Elkader.
