The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams travel to West Liberty Tuesday for a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Comets. The Golden Hawk boys are 1-1 on the young season after getting their first win Saturday over Northeast Goose Lake 61-43 behind 21 points from Bryce Henry, 12 from Landon Sullivan and 10 from Dylan Henry. This year the Hawks are scoring 52 points per game and giving up 49, shooting 40% from the floor, 27% from three and 83% at the line with 36 rebounds, 11 assists, nine steals and 24 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Sullivan at 14 points per game, Dylan Henry and Brady Weber at six boards each per night, Weber with six assists and Weber, Conner Wiles and Beau Flynn with two steals per night.

West Liberty is 0-2 this year with losses to Cascade and Bellevue. Last time out against the Bellevue Comets, West Liberty fell 83-56, though Jayce McHugh scored 26 points. On the season, West Liberty scoring 46 points per game and gives up 72, shooting 36% from the floor, 22% from deep and 47% at the line with 25 boards, 11 assists, seven steals and 16 turnovers per game. McHugh is the individual leader with 21 points per game, Ryker Dengler averages 10 boards, three steals and two assists per night. Mid-Prairie has won the last five in the series including three victories over the Comets a season ago, the last a 75-67 first round playoff victory.

The Mid-Prairie girls are 2-2 this year after a 59-43 setback against Northeast Goose Lake Saturday where they were led by 10 points each from Jovi Evans and Brooklyn Schneider. This year, the Hawks are scoring 60 points per game and giving up 49, shooting 40% from the floor, 35% from long range and 51% at the line with 37 rebounds, 15 assists, 16 steals and 20 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Callie Huber at 11 points and nine boards per game. Nora Pennington has five steals and Jovi Evans four assists per night.

West Liberty is 1-2 this year after getting by Bellevue 46-44 on Friday at home behind 27 points from Pearson Hall. This year the Comets are scoring 38 points per game and giving up 45, shooting 29% from the floor, 16% from three and 47% at the line with 31 boards, six assists, six steals and 20 turnovers per game. Hall is the individual leader at 18 points and two steals per night. Paige Werling averages seven boards and Sophie Buysse two assists per game. These two teams have split their last four meetings with West Liberty scoring a 55-50 win in Wellman last year and the Hawks returning the favor 50-48 win West Liberty later in the season.
