Mid-Prairie students reach a major milestone Friday, as they kick off the 30th annual Madrigal Dinner. The event’s success continues this year, with sold out performances December 8, 9, and 10.

Director, Collette McClellen, who has been involved in nearly every Madrigal Dinner at Mid-Prairie since it started there, gives KCII a brief summary of the event. “It started back in the school year of 96-97. It is a very different type of entertainment than most schools do. It is about a three hour dinner and a show for us to perform for everyone else.”

The dinner includes Mid-Prairie students dressed in Medieval clothing, serving a five-course meal to guests, while songs and skits are performed. Senior Jack Greiner, this year’s king, shared his excitement around being involved in such a tradition. “It’s just something that I know in 30 years when it’s the 60th [Madrigal Dinner], that I’ll look back and think ‘I put work in and I’m proud of that’”.

More than 100 guests per night will be attending the 30th annual Madrigal Dinner, with proceeds going back to the Mid-Prairie music department.
