The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard a presentation from Kirkwood Workplace Learning Connection at their Tuesday meeting. Director of the program Kristine Bullock gives more information on the program. “We are a department of Kirkwood, that we cover the whole Kirkwood seven-county area, and we formally contract with all of the school districts and County Supervisors to provide funding to support career exploration services for students in grades sixth through twelfth. And our whole goal is to be a single point of contact for both the business side, and the school side, so it doesn’t matter what school you go to, what connections you have, that we can get students connected to career exploration experiences to help them to help them better decide what they want to do.” At the end of the presentation, Bullock did put in a funding request of $2,256.50, that number is based on the 2020 census and is the amount that they have previously received from the County. The funding will go towards the continued operation of the program, as well as expansion into more fields.
