Local boys’ wrestling teams were in action earlier this week around the area, which included Highland coming away with a pair of dual wins Tuesday, defeating Cardinal 40-36 and knocking off Moravia 42-30 to sandwich a 39-36 loss to English Valleys. Junior Isaac Kleese was a winner by pin in all three of his bouts at 190 pounds, as was freshman Tyler Pierson at 120.

Luke Guseman pinned two of his opponents and won a 12-3 major decision at 132 lbs, while fellow senior Jack Peiffer had a pair of pins at 175, as did sophomore Brock Thomann at 138 and freshman Jose Ramirez at 105. The Huskies also got pins to win from junior Sage Hartley-Norman at 138 lbs and junior Wade Eckrich at 144.

Sigourney-Keota was unable to come away with a dual win Tuesday, falling 70-12 at Pella while also losing by the same score to Pleasantville and being beaten 50-18 by Prairie City-Monroe. SK got three pins from senior Jake Moore at 165 lbs, while junior Brady Clark also had a victory by pin at 138.

Lone Tree took a pair of dual defeats Tuesday night at Wapello, falling 72-6 to Burlington and 58-21 to Fort Madison. Freshman Cole Walmsley was a winner at 106 lbs by a 14-11 decision. The Lions also got victories via pin from junior Clemens Swaink at 138; freshman Jacob Bell at 144; and junior Brody Magruder at 175. Lone Tree will return to Wapello tonight for duals against the host Indians and New London.
