Washington Demon boys’ wrestling came up with a pair of victories in duals Tuesday night in Elkader. Despite losing 47-33 to Anamosa, Washington was able to knock off Center Point-Urbana 57-21 and blanked Central Community of Elkader 72-0.
The Demons were led by senior Chase Greiner at 157 pounds and junior Aaron Boone at 132 , who won all three of their bouts by a pin. Sophomore Caden Greiner pinned a pair of opponents and beat a third by a 10-9 decision at 126 lbs, while junior Nate Edmonds got two pins at 120.
Junior Jude Carter was a winner by a 10-3 decision at 138 lbs, while senior Lane Schrock won a 9-5 decision at 150 and freshman Greyson Hartman claimed a 5-0 decision at 215.
Washington also got pins to win from freshman Joseph Schreiber at 106 lbs; senior Eddy Rodriguez at 113; sophomore Layne Moore at 144; freshman Blaine Rees at 190; and sophomore Gatlin Nash at 285. The Demons will wrestle again tonight at home when they have their first Southeast Conference dual of the season against Fairfield.
