Against Regina, Mid-Prairie came up short 48-28. The Hawks got wins in contested matches from Dalton Miller at 126 by 7-1 decision, Max Howe at 132 by 4-1 decision, Tucker Miller at 138 by 16-7 major decision, Quinn Callahan at 215 by fall and Burke Berry at 285 by fall.
Following action, Golden Hawks Callahan and Howe joined KCII sports to talk about their two match victories. Callahan said, “(In the first match) I didn’t really know what the guy had to offer. I was a little concerned about my conditioning, I’ve been battling some minor injuries. The goal was to really try to stay on the gas pedal and score points. (In the second match) first impressions, I came out of the gate trying to work my setups, he allowed me to do that. Tried to get to my offense, establish that. Try to work for some back points and ultimately the fall. I wanted to get the home crowd fired up and show them who we are as Mid-Prairie wrestling.”
Howe added, “(In my first match) I took it to him and pinned him right away. I just worked my stuff on him. (In my second match) we both scramble a lot. It was pretty hard, tougher than my first match.”
The Golden Hawks honored seniors Dalton Miller, Tucker Miller, Owen Freeman and Jarron Thomas in a ceremony during the night. With the losses, the Hawks have a 1-4 dual record going into their home Colton Allen Invitational Dual Tournament Saturday.
