The Washington City Council met on Tuesday evening, and on the agenda was a discussion and consideration for changes to cemetery fees and services, including increasing the rental price of the city’s tent and adjustment of the rate and hours for weekend funerals. City Council member Elaine Moore shared her thoughts on the potential changes, “Explore with the funeral directors on these Saturdays and Sundays and partnering during the setup and taking up the slack, since they already do Saturdays and Sundays through the funeral home, not through the city. So you need to sit down and have a conversation with them to make sure that they are aware of it.” The Council approved an increased price for the tent rental from $100 to $200, but asked for more information before making changes to the weekend hours and times.
