The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard a presentation from the Kalona Historical Society at their Tuesday meeting. Managing Director of the Kalona Historical Society Nancy Roth gave the presentation focusing on tourism, “Tourism is a big part of the Kalona area, and is a big draw for our museum. I work directly with our Chamber Director on a regular basis. Between the two of us, we do everything we possibly can to try and get word out about Kalona.” No official request for funding from the Board was made. The construction of the new Wahl Museum building was made possible through individual and business contributions, fundraising, and grants from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation and Rotary International.
