The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle rollover Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 78 and Gabriel Avenue east of Wayland. 

An investigation into the accident determined that a passenger car driven by a 15-year-old juvenile was traveling eastbound on Highway 78 approaching the intersection of Gabriel Avenue. The vehicle dropped off the pavement, lost control, and side-swiped an oncoming passenger car driven by 52-year-old Kenneth McKee of Richland. The juvenile’s vehicle then struck the fore slope of the intersection and rolled multiple times before striking a tree and coming to a rest in an adjacent yard. 

Both front and side airbags deployed in the vehicle, and the juvenile was wearing his seatbelt. He was treated for minor injuries and later released to his parent. McKee and his passenger denied medical treatment at the scene. 

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the call by the Wayland First Responders, Wayland Police Department, Winfield Police Department, and Henry County EMS.
