It’s a Saturday hoops matinee today at Winfield-Mt. Union High School when the Wolves host the Hillcrest Academy Ravens in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader. The boys contest features the unbeaten Ravens at 5-0 after a 45-43 win over Louisa-Muscatine in Kalona Friday. On the year, the Ravens are scoring 61 points per game and giving up 39, shooting 46% from the floor, 35% from three and 57% at the line with 26 boards, 16 assists, 10 steals and seven turnovers per game. Individually they are led by Seth Ours at 23 points per game, Mason Bender with five boards and Rowan Miller with seven assists and three steals.

Winfield-Mt. Union is 4-1. They got by Wapello Friday 53-31. On the year the Wolves are scoring 50 per game and giving up 36, shooting 43% from the floor, 41% from deep and 45% at the line with 30 rebounds, 15 assists, eight steals and 12 turnovers per game. Individually, Cam Buffington has 15 points and five assists per night. Abram Edwards pulls in 12 boards. WMU has won the last five in the series including 59-42 and 59-56 wins a season ago.

The Raven girls are 2-4 after a Friday loss to Louisa-Muscatine 39-35. On the year, Hillcrest scores 37 per night and give up 42, shooting 27% from the field, 26% from deep and 53% from the line with 34 boards, nine assists, 11 steals and 21 turnovers per game. Individual leaders per game include Claire Withrow at 16 points, Delaney Shaw at 11 boards, and Malia Yoder with four steals and three assists.

Winfield-Mt. Union is 2-5 after a 53-38 loss against Wapello Friday. On the season, the Wolves score 32 points per game and give up 45, shooting 25% from the floor, 17% from long range and 46% at the line with 24 boards, seven assists, 11 steals and 24 turnovers per night. Individually, Madisen Kellogg leads at 18 points, nine boards and three steals per game. The Wolves have won seven in a row in the series including 63-4 and 55-13 wins a season ago.
