The Lone Tree Lions earned a pair of home basketball wins Saturday against English Valleys. Lone Tree claimed an 18-8 lead by the end of the first quarter in the girls’ game, and while the Lions’ lead shrunk to single digits by halftime, they would stay in front the rest of the way to get a 55-42 victory that helped them move to 7-1.

The Lone Tree boys did most of their damage in the first quarter, building a 27-10 lead and going on to win 64-28 to improve to 4-2. Both Lion teams will next play tomorrow at Louisa-Muscatine.

The WACO girls’ team were also in action Saturday, falling 61-23 to Danville. A 20-4 deficit after a quarter of play only grew, as despite junior Ella Huisenga scoring a team-high 12 points, the Warriors still dropped to 2-4. Both WACO teams will play tomorrow night against Highland.
