Saturday saw two of the best boys basketball teams in the Southeast Iowa Superconference take the floor in Winfield, with the home Wolves handing the Hillcrest Academy Ravens their first loss of the season 63-35. Hillcrest led early 11-8 after one quarter, but the Wolves took control of the game with an 18-4 run that spanned the entire second stanza to take a 26-15 lead into half. They would extend the advantage further by outscoring Hillcrest 21-10 in the third and then finish by taking the fourth period 16-10. The Wolves shot 50% from the floor to the Ravens 44%, won the battle of the boards by seven, had 21 assists, 13 turnovers and forced 17 Raven giveaways.

Abram Edwards went double double for WMU with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Cam Buffington posted 22 points and Carter Loyd got to double figures with 11. Seth Ours led the Raven attack with 15 points. After the result, both teams stand at 5-1 on the year. Hillcrest goes to Pekin Tuesday while the Wolves are off until a Friday trip to Columbus.
