For the last two weeks, the Highland FFA has been holding a food drive with today marking the final day for community members to help the cause.
Donations can be dropped off today at any Highland School building or in downtown Riverside at La Chiva Loca, Murphy’s, Attitudes and Dance Studio, and Peoples Savings Bank.
Some of the food received from this drive will benefit the Highland Back Pack Program, which helps students with food insecurity. Highland Nurse Cindy Peiffer explains. “Mostly what we are looking for is individually packaged things like Easy Mac, cans of Spaghettios, granola bars, popcorn, so that we can send them home with the kids. If people donate things that would be more appropriate for food pantries, then we will get those to the food pantries.”
Other canned and bagged food will be donated to food pantries in the Riverside and Ainsworth communities.
