A Cedar Rapids man who had been missing since late November has been found dead in Missouri, according to a press release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
On November 27, the Sheriff’s Office located an abandoned 2011 Dodge truck near a small wooded area in the 1400 block of Highway 6 NW in rural Johnson County. It was soon learned that the truck was owned by 31-year-old Shawn Kiger, who had been reported missing to the Winona Missouri Police Department on November 23.
Through a subsequent investigation, the body of Kiger was located on December 14 in a wooded area in rural Shannon County, Missouri. Law enforcement officials have since charged two individuals in connection with the investigation. Thirty-two-year-old Kyle Sebree and 41-year-old Heather McClendon have both been charged with murder in the first degree. Sebree was additionally charged with kidnapping in the first degree, while McClendon picked up a tampering with evidence charge.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received additional assistance from the Joint Forensic Analysis Cyber Team, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, University of Iowa Police Department, Iowa City Police Department, and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
