For the second time in less than a month, KCII and West Liberty Foods teamed up for a turkey giveaway, benefiting nearly a dozen food banks and organizations in southeast Iowa.

As part of the 21st KCII Caring Christmas Food Drive, West Liberty Foods made a massive donation of more than 700 turkey breasts lobes, which were delivered to Washington HyVee on Tuesday. It was there that representatives from area food banks picked them up, including Community Action of Southeast Iowa out of Columbus Junction, The Fellowship Cup of Mt. Pleasant, Holy Family Parish of Riverside, United Church of Faith of Keota, Brighton Community Church Food Pantry, MOPS Winfield Food Pantry, Gospel Light Fellowship Church of Kalona, The Lighthouse Center-Tribulation and Trust Ministry of Washington, HACAP of Washington County, The Lord’s Cupboard of Fairfield, and The Lord’s Pantry of Sigourney.

Darren Brown with the Lighthouse Center tells KCII what donations like this mean for the organization. “I love it. It takes a community to do what we do, and seeing a community give like that is another blessing.”
