Keota boys’ basketball has run its undefeated start to 10-0 after rolling past HLV 77-47 Thursday night. A 25-5 run in the opening quarter was more than enough to put the Eagles in command on the road, and they never looked back on their way to also improving to 8-0 in the South Iowa Cedar League.
Sawyer Stout scored a game-high 24 points to lead Keota, while point guard Cole Kindred had a huge all-around night with 11 points, six rebounds, 10 assists and four steals. Fellow senior Tanner Waterhouse added 14 points, four assists and four steals for the Eagles, while junior Bille Kindred put up eight points and eight boards and senior Aiden McGuire had nine points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals off the bench.
The Keota girls were only down two after a quarter of play but saw the deficit against HLV grow to 26-16 by the half. The Warriors opened the second half on a 15-4 run and went on to win 59-24, dropping the Eagles to 1-6 in conference play and 1-9 overall. Both Keota teams will return to action January 5th against Colfax-Mingo.
