The Sigourney Savages came up short in a pair of basketball battles with North Mahaska Thursday night. After being tied at 11 in the first quarter of the girls’ game, Sigourney fell behind by four at halftime. It would be a 14-2 run to start the third period that allowed North Mahaska to seize control, as the Warhawks went on to win 41-29 and drop the Savages to 3-4 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 6-4 overall.
Sigourney fell behind early and could never catch North Mahaska in the boys’ game, falling 72-48. The Savages are now 3-5 in conference play and 4-5 in total. Both Sigourney teams are off until January 5th when they visit BGM.
