Last week, the City of Sigourney released a hazard mitigation survey for residents of Keokuk County.

The purpose of the survey is to help County officials determine which potential hazards have most affected the different communities. Anyone who takes the anonymous survey should provide the name of their Keokuk County community and which hazards they believe to be the most frequent and the most concerning to them. Some of the 10 hazards included on the survey are tornadoes, drought, severe storms, and flooding.

Participation in the survey will help communities get funding for future disasters, and help them more effectively plan for them. Responses are due by January 31, 2024, and can be accessed by clicking here.
