For the last four years, Trevor Sherping has held the Director position at the Kalona Public Library. Last week, Sherping’s resignation was accepted by the Library’s Board of Trustees, effective March 31, 2024.
Awaiting the birth of his first child, which is expected in March as well, Sherping is stepping away to be a stay-at-home parent. With a new adventure on the horizon, he reflected on some of the memories he’s built in his time as the Kalona Public Library Director.
“The last two years we’ve set all-time circulation records for physical and digital materials, we’ve had more programming than ever. I’m really proud of our staff over the last couple of years expanding access to materials and removing some barriers. I’m also very proud of the fact that we removed the fees associated with inter-library loans so now people can request any item from any library in the State of Iowa and we will get it for them.”
The search for Sherping’s replacement is already underway, with the board accepting applications until Friday, January 5. To learn more about the Library Director position as well as application information, email director@kalonalibrary.org or click here.
