The Iowa Workforce Development released its November unemployment data this week. While numbers in most of the KCII listening area are up from one year ago, a decrease in unemployment since October was seen across the board.
Lowest November unemployment rates were seen in Iowa County at 2.2 percent, along with Johnson and Washington Counties at 2.4 percent. Each saw a decrease of at least .3 percent since October, with little to no change over the last year.
The unemployment rate in Louisa County was 2.9 percent in November, the same as Jefferson County. Keokuk and Henry Counties both came in at 3.1 percent. In the last year, these rates are up .3 percent in Henry County, and .5 percent in Jefferson and Keokuk Counties. There was no significant change in Louisa County.
Overall, unemployment rates in each of these seven counties were lower than that of the United States at 3.7 percent and the State of Iowa at 3.3 percent. To view the data in its entirety, or for unemployment resources, click here.
