After a break for the holidays, most area schools resume classes this week.

First to return for the second half of the school year is the Lone Tree Community School District on Tuesday, January 2. Also on Tuesday are professional learning and teacher work days for Keota, Hillcrest Academy, and Mid-Prairie.

Wednesday, January 3 will be the first day back for students at Keota, Hillcrest, and Mid-Prairie, in addition to Highland, Sigourney, Winfield-Mt. Union, Columbus, Washington, and St. James elementary. The WACO CSD will enjoy one more week off before classes resume on Monday, January 8.

At this time, parents are encouraged to get their children back on a regular sleep schedule so they can return well-rested and ready for the remainder of the school year.
