Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union continued its dominant season in boys’ wrestling duals by winning three of the four team battles they wrestled at the Eddyville Dual Tournament. After falling 54-21 to Creston, the Wildcats won 46-21 over Interstate 35; defeated Mediapolis 60-14; and then knocked off Southeast Polk 46-23.

Columbus/WMU was led by veteran stars Russell Coil and Riley Kaalberg. The senior Coil earned three victories by pin at 285 pounds, as did the junior Kaalberg at 190. Dakota Aney was also a winner of three bouts at 106 lbs, two by pins and one by a 6-2 decision. Fellow sophomore Kason Dopler also had two pins and won a 6-0 decision at 175, while senior Ty Scorpil won by pin at 132 in addition to victory by a 7-0 decision and an 11-1 major decision.

Wildcat junior Jacob Nelson won two bouts at 113 lbs, one by pin and another by a 10-2 major decision. Senior Ian Estudillo picked up a pair of pins at 120, as did Trevor Phillips at 150. Fellow sophomore Bowen Thomson won decisions of 10-3 and 12-5 at 132, while sophomore Tyson Kaalberg won an 8-7 decision at 165; junior Cooper Buffington earned a pin at 215; and senior Cole Storm came out on top in a 6-4 decision at 165.
