The end of another holiday season means the disposal of Christmas trees across the State. Louisa County Conservation is requesting old trees so they can be repurposed into fish habitats.

When introduced to the water, Christmas trees such as fir, pine, and spruce allow fish areas to forage, in addition to providing spots to hide. This offer is available for real trees only, with all decorations and lights removed.

To participate, trees can be dropped off in Wapello at the Conservation Office 12635 County Road G56, Suite 101 or the maintenance shop 8299 K Avenue. With questions or for more information, call 319-523-8381.
