Three Mid-Prairie sports teams are in action Monday. The Golden Hawk girls wrestling team travels to a River Valley Conference quad at Wilton to take on Northeast, West Branch and the Beavers. The Hawks were in action over the weekend at the Highland Tournament where they took the team runner-up spot with 151 points. They were led by Ashlee Farrier’s individual championship, her fourth title on the season. Mardie Berry and Ellie Callahan were runners-up. The Hawks have a 6-4 dual record this year. Berry has the team lead with 23 wins. Austyn Sexton and Ellie Brenneman each have 22. They, along with Becca Westfall, Gabby Gingerich, Sophie Miller, Emmerson Moore, Sam Stacey and Addyson Asher all have winning records.

Northeast has an 0-2 dual record this year and has been off since the Central DeWitt Tournament December 15th where they placed 18th of 20 teams with 24 points, led by a runner-up finish for Skylar Wegener at 235lbs. She is the team leader with five wins this year.

West Branch is 3-4 this dual season. Their last action was December 19th where they swept an RVC quad against Durant, Maquoketa and Camanche. Teagyn Hartz at 190lbs is 16-2 to lead the team.

Wilton is 4-3 in dual this year. They were last on the mat in Wellman for a River Valley quad with Anamosa, West Liberty and the Golden Hawks. Audrey Cummings at 100lbs leads the way with a 23-3 record. The Hawks beat Wilton in their earlier matchup this year 42-30.

Action starts tonight at 5:30p.m. at Wilton High School.

The Mid-Prairie basketball teams host the Williamsburg Raiders tonight for a non-conference doubleheader. The Golden Hawk girls are 6-4 this year after a 73-37 loss at No. 13 in Class 4A Maquoketa Saturday in the River Valley Conference Shootout. On the season the Hawks average 58 points per game and give up 48, shooting 42% from the field, 30% from three and 51% at the line with 38 rebounds, 14 assists, 12 steals and 19 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include, Callie Huber with 12 points and 10 rebounds per night. Nora Pennington with four steals per game and Jovi Evans at four assists per outing.

The Williamsburg girls are 5-3 to this point and ranked No. 14 in Class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. This is the first game back after Christmas for the Raiders who closed 2023 with a 61-30 win over Grinnell. On the season, Williamsburg averages 57 points per game and gives up 45, shooting 39% from the floor, 28% from deep and 65% at the line with 25 rebounds, 10 assists, 11 steals and 13 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include, Carly Rich with 13 points and two assists per night. Zoe Allen averages six boards and Makenna Hughes two steals. Mid-Prairie won this matchup last year on the road 52-45.

This is the first game back from break for the Golden Hawk boys who are 4-4 on the year. Last time out they fell to top five Solon on the road 66-62 in December. Mid-Prairie is averaging 60 points per game and giving up 58, shooting 43% from the floor, 34% from three and 70% at the line with 31 rebounds, 15 assists, seven steals and 19 turnovers per night. Individual leaders include, Ace Peck at 10 points per game, and Brady Weber with six assists, five rebounds and three steals per night.

Williamsburg is 5-2 this season. The Raiders are ranked No. 10 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Athletic Association. They dropped a contest Tuesday at Mount Vernon 47-32. This year the Raiders score 57 points per game and give up 53, shooting 46% from the field, 31% from three and 58% at the line with 33 boards, 12 assists, five steals and 15 turnovers per night. Individually, Derek Weisskopf averages 20 points per night. Kellen Cockrell pulls in eight boards and two steals and Grant Hocker averages three assists. The Raiders were a winner in this matchup last year 69-61.
