The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team dropped their River Valley Conference Shootout contest Saturday at No. 13 in Class 4A Maquoketa 73-37. The Cardinals came out firing, up 26-12 after one quarter and a 13-4 run in the second gave them a 39-16 lead at the break. A 25-10 third quarter rush for Maquoketa enacted the running clock and closed the door on the Hawks. The Cardinals had 39 rebounds, 23 assists, 16 steals and put a trio in double figures with Aubrey Kroymann at 20 points, Cora Widel at 17 and Carley Cavanagh with 13. Maquoketa is now 10-2 on the season as the Golden Hawks fall to 6-4. Mid-Prairie is back on the court tonight when they entertain Williamsburg.
