The Washington City Council approved the voluntary annexation of DW Developments, where a new hotel will be located, during the November 21st meeting. Upon review by the Secretary of State, updates to the site were needed. City Attorney Kevin Olson gives more details, “I’ll pull together the right of way description, just add it on to the other, the other thing is a reversal and that’s easy. The Secretary of State just wanted the south half of highway 92 marked and the DOT wanted it.” The change was approved by the council and the documents will be updated and resubmitted.  A study done by the International Society of Hospitality Consultants stated that an “upper midscale” limited-service hotel to accommodate attendees of Washington events and overflow guests for Iowa City events would be feasible.
