Iowa homeowners who have been impacted by COVID can now apply for up to a $35,000 grant to repair their home, thanks to the Iowa Home Repair Pilot Program from the Iowa Finance Authority.
Applicants must have had someone in the household experience a financial hardship after January 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This could be reduction in income or increase in living expenses due to job loss, fewer work hours, paying more in childcare, illness, or being unable to work while caring for a family member.
Eligible repairs include but are not limited to drainage, electrical or plumbing systems, foundation repair, HVAC repair or replacement, siding, roofing, asbestos removal, and mold remediation. Homeowners are encouraged to check their preliminary eligibility prior to submitting an application.
The application portal remains open through January 31 at 4:30 p.m. For eligibility requirements or an application, click here.
