The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was one of several agencies to respond to a fire over the weekend at Mapleleaf Apartments in Mt. Pleasant.

The fire was reported in the morning of Saturday, January 6. While fire crews handled the fire, which occurred on the third floor, all residents were evacuated. Mount Pleasant Community School District buses were used for transportation, and many residents were taken to Arbor Court Nursing Home and Calvary Baptist Church.

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was assisted in the incident by New London Fire & Rescue, Salem Fire and Rescue Association, Henry County EMS, Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Henry County Emergency Management, Mt. Pleasant CSD, Arbor Court, and Calvary Baptist Church.
