All levels of the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk archery club took aim at Saturday’s Solon Spartan Shoot. The high school Hawks were team runners-up in 3D with a 1595, behind champion Cedar Rapids Prairie’s 1683. Elijah Statler led the Golden Hawk boys in fourth overall with a 271 and eight tens. Other Mid-Prairie boys top tens included Eli Conrad fifth, Landon Kuenster sixth, and Milo Sieren seventh. For the girls, Averi Janecek had the top score in ninth with a 267 and 13 tens. The Hawks placed fifth of five teams in the bullseye shoot with a score of 3190. Cedar Rapids Prairie was the team champion at 3384. Averi Janecek had the top girls round in 11th with a 274 and 10 tens. Elijah Statler had the top boys score in 19th with a 271 and 11 tens.
The Mid-Prairie Middle Schoolers were fourth in bullseye and 3D with scores of 3028 and 1490 respectively. Solon swept both titles. Gavin Luers was 10th in the boys bullseye shoot with a 270 and eight tens. Skylar Swift was 10th on the girls side with a 254 and seven tens. Leaders in 3D included Kylar Kiefer third in the boys contest with a 263 and 10 tens, followed by teammates Nickolas Kelley in seventh and Beckett Miller in 10th. In the girls contest, Lara Brenneman was eighth with a 235 and six tens.
The elementary archers did not post team scores. They were led individually in 3D by runner-up performances from Claire O’Connor at 136 with three tens and David Popejoy with a 114 and one ten. In bullseye, Blair Northup was eighth for the girls with a 196 and five tens, Brooklyn Liska was tenth. For the boys, Zander Copping was ninth with a 189 and two tens.
The Golden Hawks are next in action Saturday when they shoot at North Scott.
