After losing an event to the weather earlier this week, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys wrestling team is scheduled to get back to action Thursday with a road trip to Maquoketa for a River Valley Conference quadrangular with Anamosa, Cascade and the home Cardinals.

The Hawks are 7-7 on the dual season. The team was last on the mat Saturday at the Gary Curtis Invitational at Highland where Burke Berry at 285lbs and Quinn Callahan at 215lbs each locked down spots on the podium taking fifth and sixth place respectively. Mid-Prairie’s last dual event was a success, a week ago at Camanche, the Hawks swept an RVC quad, taking victories over Bellevue, Northeast and the home Storm. For the year, Tucker Miller is the team leader at 14 victories. Those previously mentioned along with Trevyn Riley, Mason Howe, Max Howe, Austin Bush, Noah Freeman, Max Kipp, Jarron Thomas, Tommy Miller and Brock Fisher, all have winning records.

Anamosa is 13-2 this dual season. They were last on the mat Saturday at the Farr Jebens Invitational at Maquoketa Valley where they finished third, led by individual championships from Easton Wheeler at 144lbs, Ayden Antonelli at 165lbs, and Austin Scranton at 175lbs. In their last dual event, they dropped two of three in an RVC quad, falling to Wilton and West Branch and beating Iowa City Regina a week ago. The Blue Raiders have two ranked wrestlers in their lineup with Hudson Scranton No. 3 in Class 2A at 150lbs and Austin Scranton No. 2 at 175. Austin Scranton is the team leader with an unbeaten 28-0 record. The Raiders beat the Hawks last season 42-39.

Cascade has an 18-10 dual record this season. They competed at Highland Saturday where they finished 12th as a team led by fifth place finishes for Kalvin Manternach at 138lbs and Ty Frasher at 157lbs. In their last dual event the Cougars split a triangular, falling to Tipton and beating New London a week ago. They are led this season by Brock Morris at 132lbs with a 29-5 record this season. Mid-Prairie cruised by the Cougars a year ago 57-18.

Maquoketa is 5-7 on the dual season. They were last on the mat Saturday at the Northeast Invitational where they finished as team runners-up led by championships for Tayden Howell at 106lbs, Spencer Martin at 150lbs, Atticus Clark at 175lbs, and Jackson Van Keuren at 215lbs. Their last dual meet was a week ago where they took one of three at an RVC quad, knocking off Dyersville-Beckman, but falling to West Liberty and Monticello. This year, the Cardinals are led by Van Keuren with a 26-3 record. The Hawks beat the Cardinals last season 48-34.

Action starts tonight at 5:30p.m. at Maquoketa High School.
