A boil order has been issued for Columbus Junction and Columbus City and remains in effect until further notice.
According to the City of Columbus Junction Facebook page, a controller at the water tower froze, resulting in the boil order. While in effect, Columbus Junction and Columbus City residents are advised that boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation. Boiling water for at least one minute effectively kills any bacteria or other organisms present in the water. Tap water may still be used for bathing or other similar purposes.
KCII will have more information as it becomes official.
