The WACO Warriors have played their best basketball in conference play. That’s why it’s no surprise that a number of players find themselves leading a couple statistical categories in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
One of those players is senior Hunter Hughes, who is second in the league with 42 steals. Reece Oswald is nearly automatic at the free-throw line for the WACO boys. The senior is hitting 80% of his attempts at the charity stripe, the second-highest percentage in the conference and a key to helping the Warriors win seven of their first eight games in the Super Conference North and get to 7-3 overall.
For the WACO girls, senior Emma Wagler has been a strong low-post threat, hitting the second-highest mark in the conference of her shot attempts at 43 percent. Wagler is also fifth in the league in free-throw attempts, while fellow senior Naomi Egli’s 10 blocked shots is fifth in the Super Conference North for the Warriors, who are 6-3 in conference play and 6-6 in total.
