For the first time in nearly two weeks, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys wrestling team is on the mat tonight for a River Valley Conference event in Wilton. The Hawks will meet league rivals West Liberty, Durant and the home Beavers. The Hawks are 7-7 on the dual season. The team was last on the mat January 6th at the Gary Curtis Invitational at Highland where Burke Berry at 285lbs and Quinn Callahan at 215lbs each locked down spots on the podium taking fifth and sixth place respectively. Mid-Prairie’s last dual event was a success, the Hawks swept an RVC quad at Camanche, taking victories over Bellevue, Northeast and the home Storm. For the year, Tucker Miller is the team leader at 14 victories. Those previously mentioned along with Trevyn Riley, Mason Howe, Max Howe, Austin Bush, Noah Freeman, Max Kipp, Jarron Thomas, Tommy Miller and Brock Fisher, all have winning records.

West Liberty is 11-2 this dual season. They were last in action a week ago when they split an RVC triangular, beating Camanche and falling to West Branch. Kaden Wiele is the team leader at 157lbs with a 26-4 overall record. The Hawks beat the Comets last season 41-36.

Durant is 7-5 this dual season. Last time out they swept a River Valley quad, beating Northeast, Beckman and Iowa City Regina. Nicholas Poston has the high win total on the team at 19. The Hawks topped the ‘Cats last year 46-27.

Wilton is 17-0 this dual season. The Beavers rolled to a quad sweep a week ago, taking down Bellevue, Monticello and Tipton. The Beavers are No.2 in the latest 1A team rankings from IAwrestle.com. They have ranked wrestlers in 10 of 14 weight classes including No. 6 Liam Adlfinger at 106lbs, No. 2 Mason Shirk at 113lbs, No. 8 Austin Etzel at 120lbs, No. 4 Gabriel Brisker at 132lbs, No. 2 Brody Brisker at 138lbs, No. 4 Jordan Dusenberry at 144lbs, No. 12 Owen Milder at 165lbs, and No. 8 Gatlin Rogers at 175lbs. Brody Brisker is the team leader with a 33-1 record. Wilton beat Mid-Prairie last season 69-9.

Action starts tonight at 5:30p.m. at Wilton High School.
