The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team has a quick turnaround tonight when they welcome the West Branch Bears to Wellman for a River Valley Conference contest. This game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but cancelled due to weather. The Hawks are 7-5 this year and 5-2 in league play after a 49-42 win over West Liberty Thursday where Jovi Evans scored 21 and Callie Huber added 10 points. This season the Hawks score 55 points per game and give up 52, shooting 40% from the floor, 30% from three and 52% at the line with 37 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 steals and 21 turnovers per night. Individual leaders include, Huber with 11 points and 10 boards per night, Nora Pennington with three steals and Evans with three assists per game.
West Branch is 2-11 on the year, 1-5 in conference after a 40-37 loss to Wilton a week ago. This season the Bears average 36 points and give up 53 per night, shooting 30% from the floor, 29% from three and 53% at the line with 28 boards, 10 assists, six steals and 20 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include Kylie Pickett with 10 points and two steals per night, Addi Schultes with six boards and Alyse Klinkkammer five assists. The Golden Hawks beat the Bears on the road before Christmas 57-53 and have won the last three in the series.
