Friday, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling team competed at the first ever River Valley Conference Championship meet, held at Anamosa High School. The Hawks took third of 12 teams with 135 points. West Liberty took the team title with 234 points. Mid-Prairie had three runners-up lead the way.
Austyn Sexton was second at 115lbs after a 2-1 day in contested matches that included a pair of pins. Ashlee Farrier was second at 130lbs after a 1-1 day in contested matches that included a pin. Ellie Brenneman was second at 135lbs after a 2-1 day in contested matches that included two pins. Adeline Huston at 145, Mardie Berry at 155 and Sam Stacey at 235 all finished fourth. Ruby Miller at 105 and Ellie Callahan at 170 were fifth.
The Hawks are next in action Friday at HyVee Hall in Des Moines for girls wrestling Super-Regionals.
