A pair of old rivals met up Friday night on Dwight Gingerich Court when the Hillcrest Academy Ravens hosted the Lone Tree Lions in a boy/girl Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader. The night started with a Lone Tree girls win 60-27. The Lady Lions flew out of the gate with a 29-6 run that spanned the entire first quarter and took a 42-12 lead into half. Lone Tree enacted the running clock in the third quarter and put the game out of reach. The Lady Lions feasted on 29 Hillcrest turnovers. A trio for Lone Tree got to double figures led by 16 points for Finley Jacque, 14 for Vivian Zaruba and 13 for Ava Christofferson. Claire Withrow led the Ravens with 11 points and Malia Yoder added 10. Lone Tree maintains a share of the Superconference North Division lead, standing at 8-1 in league play, 12-1 overall, Hillcrest falls to 1-10 in conference and 4-10 on the year.
The Raven boys won the nightcap 67-50. Hillcrest was on top 19-13 after one, but Lone Tree hung around, posting a 17 point second quarter to chip away and make it 33-30 Ravens at half. Hillcrest methodically pulled away after the break, winning the third quarter 18-11 and the fourth 16-9. Hillcrest won the glass by three and committed only nine turnovers in the win. The Ravens got three to double figures, led by 20 points for Rowan Miller, 18 for Mason Bender and 15 for Seth Ours. Lone Tree saw Ethan Bockelman score 18 and Emmett Burke 17. Hillcrest stands at 11-4 after the victory 8-3 in conference, as the Lions fall to 5-8 overall 2-7 in league play.
