Nine Mid-Prairie large speech groups competed at the District Large Group Speech Contest in Keota on Saturday, with all nine earning a trip to State.

To advance to the State Contest, a group must receive a division 1 rating from the Iowa High School Speech Association judges. Groups to do so included the One Act Play consisting of Jacob Carrillo, Harlie Gehling, Niah Leaton, and Grace Puttman. Performing Readers Theatre were Chris Burnham, Jillian Clark, River Gehling, Abby Kraus, Brock Lowenberg, Aliza Parks, Daniel Rodgers, and Diego Sanchez.

Three different Ensemble Acting groups qualified, consisting of River Gehling, Grace Puttman, Haydon Bailey, Logan McClellen, Jeremiah Rempel, Caroline Schrader, Tabitha Fisher, Harlie Gehling, Wren Harris, and Daniel Rodgers. The two Musical Theatre groups are comprised of Haydon Bailey, Jack Greiner, Jeremiah Rempel, Logan McClellen, and Caroline Schrader. Finally, two Group Improvisation teams qualified, including Jillian Clark, Niah Leaton, Toby Olson, Jacob Carrillo, and Jack Greiner.

These 20 students are set to perform at the IHSSA State Large Group Contest at Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf on Saturday, February 3.
