The Mid-Prairie boys wrestling team hits the road for Bellevue Saturday for a chance at River Valley gold at the annual Conference Championship meet. The Golden Hawks were last on the mat Saturday for the North Tama Invitational where they placed fourth with four individual third place finishes including Dalton Miller at 120lbs, Collin O’Rourke at 126, Quinn Callahan at 215 and Burke Berry at 285. The Hawks ended the dual season with a 7-10 record. Individually, Berry, Trevyn Riley and Max Howe each have tournament titles this season. Berry is the team leader with 18 wins. That group along with Parker English, Blake Malichky, Tucker Miller, Josh Turner, Jarron Thomas, and Brock Fisher all have double digit wins on the year.
The Hawks are joined at Bellevue today by Anamosa, Dyersville-Beckman, Camanche, Cascade, Durant, Maquoketa, Monticello, Northeast, Iowa City Regina, Tipton, West Liberty, West Branch, No. 2 in Class 1A Wilton and the home Comets. There are 22 ranked wrestlers in today’s field. Mid-Prairie finished 10th of 14 teams at this event a year ago. Action starts at 10a.m. Saturday and continues all day at Bellevue High School.
