Four local wrestlers earned their spot at next week’s Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Championship meet with stellar performances at Friday’s Super Regional at HyVee Hall in Des Moines. Sigourney-Keota’s Reanah Utterback will represent the Savages in Coralville after winning the 115lb Super Regional championship. The SK Superstar streamrolled to girls state for the second time in her career, pinning her way to the title with a 4-0 day, including a championship bout fall over Trudy Haag of Ankeny in 2:49. Utterback is now 44-0 this season.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks have three wrestlers on their way to State at Xtream Arena. At 130lbs, junior Ashlee Farrier advanced in third place after a 5-1 day. In the third place match, Farrier cemented her spot by putting Indianola’s Andrea Taylor on her back in 3:16. Taylor had beaten Farrier earlier in the day. This is the second trip to state in her career.

Senior Ellie Brenneman is back at state for the third straight season after a third place finish in Des Moines Friday at 135lbs. She put together a 5-1 tournament that included a pin in the third place match over Ellie Hancock of Raccoon River Northwest in 3:14 to clinch the spot. It was sweet revenge for Brenneman, who had been beaten by Hancock earlier in the tournament.

Sophomore Ellie Callahan will also represent the Hawks at State for the second time. She placed fourth at 170lbs to advance with a 3-2 Super Regional Record.

The Girls State Tournament is scheduled for Thursday and Friday next week at Xtream Arena in Coralville. Find live updated results, free, on our website at KCIIradio.com and on the air at the top of every hour on KCII.
