Four local high school girls’ wrestlers will take part in this year’s Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union state championships after moving on from Friday’s super regionals in Cedar Rapids.

Highland’s Angelina Roling will be making her second straight trip to state after finishing second at 110 pounds. The senior won her first three bouts by pin on her way to improving to 23-5 this season.

WACO junior Rylee Rice won her way back to a fourth-place finish at 110, responding from a loss in the semifinals and defeat in the consolation bracket by earning back-to-back pins that secured her place at state for a second consecutive season.

Junior Josie Nelson will be moving on to state for Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union after she finished third at 140 lbs, winning an 8-6 decision and picking up a pin in the consolation bracket that punched her ticket to Coralville.

Wildcat senior Lecet Quiroz also reached the semifinals at 155 and was defeated, but she would bounce back with a pin in the consolation rounds and still qualify for state by finishing fourth. Quiroz, Nelson, Rice and Roling move on to compete at the IGHSAU state meet starting Thursday morning in Coralville.
