The Washington Demons wrestling team put together a strong effort Saturday at the annual Southern Iowa Classic in Fairfield, finishing tied for third in team scoring.

Washington was led by three tournament champions. Junior Aaron Boone pinned all three opponents he wrestled to win the title at 132 pounds, while senior Chase Greiner picked up a pair of pins to become the champ at 165. Sophomore Caden Greiner also was a winner at 138 lbs by claiming decisions of 5-1 and 7-5.

Juniors Nate Edmonds and Bryer Billingsly each finished fourth for the Demons at 113 and 144, respectively, as did freshman Blaine Rees at 175. Freshman Joseph Schreiber was sixth at 106, while Washington also had fifth-place finishes from senior Lane Schrock at 150; junior Braylon Hamilton at 190; freshman Greyson Hartman at 215; and sophomore Rudy Wolfe at 285. The Demons will next wrestle tomorrow night in duals against Highland and HLV.
