On Saturday at approximately 9:16pm, Washington County dispatch advised of a single-vehicle, rollover accident with unknown injuries. Upon arrival, it was determined that a purple, 1999, Jeep Cherokee registered to David Aldrich was traveling southbound on Ginkgo Ave. at about the 1400 block at an unknown speed. The motor vehicle crossed the centerline leaving the roadway. The motor vehicle then entered the east ditch, became airborne and struck an affixed utility pole causing the pole to be cut in half, coming to rest right side up and facing west, with both operator and front seat passenger unable to exit the motor vehicle by their own power. Through mechanical and non-mechanical means, the operator, identified as Charmaine Bartlett and Aldrich were extricated from the motor vehicle and transported to the University of Iowa Emergency Room via the Washington County Ambulance and the Wellman Volunteer Ambulance Services. Bulltown Towing and Repair was contacted and did obtain the motor vehicle for further investigation. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Washington County Ambulance, Wellman Fire Department, Wellman Rescue, Wellman Volunteer Ambulance, Wellman QRS, Alliant Energy, ITC, Wellman Telephone Coop, and Bulltown Towing. At this point in time, the investigation is still ongoing. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
