More than 700 high school FFA members from 118 different schools visited the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines on Tuesday as part of the 39th Annual Iowa FFA Legislative Symposium and FFA Day. Among them were eight members from the Mid-Prairie Chapter.
During the visit, the Mid-Prairie FFA members met with District 46 Senator Dawn Driscoll, District 92 Representative Heather Hora, and District 91 Representative Brad Sherman. There they were able to discuss current legislation, how to contact local legislators, and exhibit skills learned in the ag classroom.
Attending the FFA Legislative Symposium for the Golden Hawks were Elliott Debler, Peighton Ford, Callie Huber, Blake Peck, Gabi Robertson, Olivia Utzinger, Allie Whetstine, and Brynn Younge. The eight were accompanied by Chapter Advisor Elsa Schmidt.
FFA Day at the Capitol gathers high school members from across the State each year to build character and promote citizenship, volunteerism, and patriotism.
