The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is working to align service delivery for the Behavioral Health System. HHS will be focusing on measurable outcomes to ensure that they are delivering on a well-coordinated system that improves health for Iowans. To establish a baseline for monitoring the outcomes of the  system, HHS created county system snapshots. Each snapshot includes demographic information as well as 15 key indicators for the County. The indicators describe social, economic, and environmental factors, as well as healthy behaviors and outcomes. The indicators are data from Healthy Iowans, the state health assessment and state health improvement plan. According to the snapshot, Washington County is facing a shortage of Primary Care Providers, Dentists, and Mental Health Care Providers.
