The Washington Demons suffered a pair of basketball defeats Saturday at Clear Creek Amana. The Washington boys fell behind 28-11 in the first quarter and, despite doing their best to hang tough in a high-scoring game, the Demons could never fully recover from that early hole, falling 87-70. Washington loses its fifth straight to drop to 6-11.
The Demon girls also trailed after a quarter of play, and a 29-2 deficit at the start was too much against the number-one-ranked team in Class 4A, as undefeated Clear Creek Amana would go on to win 80-17. A fourth straight loss drops Washington to 8-11. Both Demons teams will next play Burlington, with the boys taking the court Friday and the girls visiting the Greyhounds tomorrow.
