The spotlight shined on local wrestlers Saturday at the annual WACO Warrior Invitational. The top local team finish came from the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks in fourth place of 10 with 140 points. North Mahaska won the team title with 174 points. The Hawks had one champion on the day with Quinn Callahan taking the title at 215lbs with a 3-0 tournament, capped by a 4-2 win over Will Hoopes of Louisa-Muscatine in the championship match. Josh Turner at 165lbs, Jarron Thomas at 175 and Burke Berry at 285 were all runners-up while Trevyn Riley took third at 106lbs.

The Washington Demons were fifth with 108.5 points. The Demons crowned a pair of champions on the day with Aaron Boone pinning his way to the title at 132lbs, including a fall in just 1:15 over Ryan Groom of North Mahaska in the championship match. It was also a dominant run to the top for Chase Greiner at 157lbs, scoring two falls to win gold, including a pin of Peyton Johnson of MEPO in 3:16 in the championship round. Nate Edmonds was a Washington runner-up at 113lbs and Caden Greiner at 138lbs and Greyson Hartman at 285lbs both finished third.

The WACO Warriors were sixth on their home mat, scoring 104 points. Two Warriors won titles on the day including Gage Samo at 113lbs with three falls including a win by pin over Nate Edmonds of Washington for the championship in 1:48. It was a three pin day on the way to the top of podium for Louden Huisenga at 190lbs, winning the title bout in 1:25 over Parker Lange of Mediapolis.

Lone Tree was 10th with 22 points. Headliners for the Lions included Brody Magruder third at 175lbs and Brock Nebergall fourth at 113.
